Ion and JW Pepper Announce Distribution Agreement

This past fall Ion Concert Media, Inc. and JW Pepper & Son, Inc. finalized a distribution agreement that will see Ion’s multimedia content distributed through the JW Pepper website.

JW Pepper is an Exton, PA based company credited as being the largest sheet music distributor in the world, with over 750,000 titles in its catalog. Founded in 1876 by James Welsh Pepper, the company today is a well known and trusted supplier for music educators across the country.

“We have recognized for a long time that Pepper would be an excellent sales partner for us,” said Ion CEO Scott Winters.  “It has taken longer than expected to close the deal, but we are very pleased to be moving out of talks and into execution.”

According to Winters, the timing for this partnership could not be better. Ion’s revolutionary media sync platform called Muséik was featured as important new classroom technology at two educators conferences last spring and the response from school directors across the country has been overwhelmingly positive.

Last month Winters received an email from one satisfied college band director who had used Muséik to project a film set to Eric Whitacre’s composition Godzilla Eats Las Vegas. This director wrote, in part,

“Just wanted to say how happy we are with how things are going with the video. After about a day of getting familiar with the platform, I passed it off to the person who is performing the video with us and he was up and running in no time. We did our first full rehearsal with the actual band this past Monday and it worked perfectly.”

Winters says that since JW Pepper is new to selling video content there are some logistical issues that are still being solved. Once that work is complete he looks forward to publishing all of Ion’s growing library of content for school ensembles on the JW Pepper website.
